Windows 8 is not the only next generation of a Microsoft cash cow with leaked details available to the public. A series of leaked screenshots and even a video of Office 15, the successor of Office 2010 (formerly codenamed Office 14), were also leaked. You can see the screenshots and the video at the bottom of this article, courtesy of WinReview, which apparently got to play with an early development milestone of the next major iteration of the Office productivity suite.

Just as it is the case for Windows 8, Office 15 still looks and feels very much like its predecessor at this point in time.

In fact, early adopters still encounter areas where the Windows 7 and Office 2010 monikers continue to be used, even though they are actually testing early previews of Windows 8 and Office 15.

The leaked screenshots and video included below are from Office 15 Build 15.0.2703.1000, which is reported to be a Milestone 2 release of the next major version of Office.

While there are no major changes introduced in Office 15 M2 Build 15.0.2703.1000, it does appear that the Redmond company will be overhauling the UI, with some modifications already made.

Some of the screenshots reveal a UI revamping which seems to be borrowing elements from the Metro UI design for Windows Phone 7.

The Metro GUI is certainly more user friendly when it comes down to natural user interfaces than the Ribbon / Fluent design.

But in this regard, I cannot help but wonder whether customers will get to see additional Metro elements included in more Microsoft products beyond Office 15.

I’m of course thinking of the default applications in Windows 8 for example, especially those designed to run on next generation Tablet PCs / slates.
