14 DAY TRIAL // The media is still raving about Johnny Depp's no longer secret engagement to young actress Amber Heard. After speculating about the ring, the possible pregnancy and the scandal with former partner Vanessa Paradis, it's now time to tackle the thorny age difference issue.
The 50-year-old actor is not afraid to speak about the fact that he's about to marry a woman that happens to be 27 years old, or almost half his age. Speaking on French television, Depp said that, for him, the age difference is not a problem.
“I've got a lot of life experience, certainly, but I don't feel like I'm looking down on her. Or being her mentor. I actually feel like she's the one inspiring me!” Depp said about Heard, whom he met for the first time on the set of the movie “The Rum Diary” and consequently fallen in love with.
He imparted more wisdom by claiming that “Sometimes, even things that seem simple and obvious are scary. I think age, experience and wisdom give us the capacity to move beyond certain stages we didn't dare cross before. ”
The discussion was then turned to the fictional scenario in which Depp found out that he only had weeks to live. He responded to this by saying that he would return to his hedonistic antics from his youth in a heartbeat.
“I would party every day with all the people I love. I would also take all the substances possible and imaginable ... I would even try and drink bleach!” the actor joked, probably trying to show that he hasn't lost his wild side and that he's more than capable of keeping up with his much younger partner.
Getting involved with a much younger woman seems to have breathed new life in Johnny Depp who has been seen lately with an extra pep in his step. He went on in interviews about how beautiful and smart Amber is and how she makes his life better.
Why, he's even considering fathering some children with her, because he claims he couldn't deprive her of that joy by simply being older than her. Plus, he claims to love children, and wants to make “about a hundred” together with Heard.
Johnny already has two children from his previous 14-year relationship with French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis. They were never wed so splitting up was easy, but made the fact that Johnny wanted to get married months after meeting Heard that more painful.
However, both Johnny and Vanessa claim that they are on the best of terms, and see each other regularly, taking care in turns of their offspring who are said to have also bonded quite well with Amber.
