Some other titles of the series will also see daylight again

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus have been remade to support the current generation of Sony consoles and will be available on the PlayStation Network in no time at all. Sure, ESRB might have ruined the entire surprise when they listed the new games in their rating list, but good news is good news even when it's a little old. The two games will come to the PSN on Thursday and for a mere price of $10 each, players will be able to enjoy them on either the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Portable.

The PlayStation Blog, with the help of the co-founder and creative director of developer Oddworld Inhabitants, Lorne Lanning, shed some light upon the decision to recreate the two games. Discussions about the porting of some other titles they made were also brought up. It may seem strange to see some of the other games on the PlayStation Network, considering that they were originally developed for the original Xbox and some Game Boy platforms, but it doesn't mean it won't happen.

When asked about Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath, two Xbox games, Lanning replied: “We're working on a strategy to bring them over as well. May take us awhile, but we hope to achieve what you're asking for.” Later he announced that the entire series would be brought to the PC by the end of 2010 and that other Xbox titles would eventually make their way to the PS3.

But remakes aren't the only thing that Oddworld Inhabitants is working on. Apparently, the series will grow and bring some brand-new titles as well. The new games might not follow the sidescrolling tradition, but that doesn't necessary mean that they will suffer a major facelift. "Unlikely that they would continue in the same format of sidescroller. But we're far from done with Oddworld. Just taking us awhile to get back to it and we've currently got a an extremely full schedule with the new stuff," Lanning said.
