The Android device has a tentative relationship with the Internet

South Korea is one of the most forward-looking countries, home to many companies, like Samsung, but the same cannot be said about North Korea.

In fact, North Korea is quite separatist, and even has something against the worldwide web.

In fact, its relationship (if it can even be called that) with the Internet is so tentative that it was a shock to hear that the country actually made an Android tablet.

The slate was seen by a tourist simply known as "Michael."

It uses a 1.2 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 788 pixels, and 8 or 16 GB of storage space.

So far so good. Even the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet is more than reasonable, and the support for North Korean TV stations is a nice boon too.

What is odd is that Angry Birds Rio is pre-installed, along with an antenna that connects to the North Korean Intranet, but Wi-Fi is absent. Some "Juche Study Books" are available as well.

The price of the tablet is $200 / €200. There's little chance of the device making it outside North Korea though.
