14 DAY TRIAL // A gloomy-looking mushroom-shaped cloud appeared seemingly out of nowhere over a city in Russia just the other day, and naturally, people went crazy over it.
Photos of the mysterious cloud were shared on social media sites and folks got busy debating whether it might be that World War III was upon us.
No, really, the cloud seriously freaked out people
Reports say that the bizarre cloud, photos of which are available in the gallery below, formed over the city of Tyumen, the largest city and the administrative center of Russia's Tyumen Oblast.
It was spotted and photographed by locals, who took to Twitter, Instagram and whatever other social media websites they could sign up for to share images of it.
Since no photo of a mushroom-shaped cloud is complete without a gloom and doom message to go with it, the images were accompanied by warnings about the beginning of a nuclear war and the end of the world as we know it.
“World War III has begun. I photographed it from my window,” a man named Alexander Bogdanov wrote on Instagram. “Oh, God save us. What have they done,” one Oleg Alexeeva tweeted.
High officials are yet to provide an explanation for how and why the peculiar cloud formed over this city in Russia. Even so, people say that, if not a nuclear attack, perhaps a missile test might explain it, Mirror reports.
Of course, the explanation could be much simpler
Admittedly, the cloud looks fairly strange and not at all like the ones we usually see hovering over our heads. Then again, this does not make it a sign of dreadful things to come.
In fact, chances are that this mushroom cloud that scared the life out of people in Tyumen, Russia, was no more and no less than a towering cumulonimbus. Such dense, towering clouds form when water vapors are carried upwards by air currents.
They look rather menacing and can birth extreme weather events like thunderstorms, but at the end of the day, there's really no need to go bananas over seeing one floating about in the sky.
