The Oculus Rift creators are saying that they are no longer accepting any new orders for the virtual reality headset because they are running out of a number of the components required for its manufacturing.

Andres Hernandez, a community manager, writes on a VR-themed Reddit post that, “Certain components used in the Oculus Rift developer kit are no longer being manufactured, meaning they are no longer available to us for production. As a result, we don’t have the necessary materials to produce additional kits.”

At the moment, those interested in a virtual reality experience can order a development kit for the Oculus Rift.

The company says that it never expected so much demand and that so far, more than 50,000 kits have been shipped to gamers and companies.

The company has recently secured more financial backing, which it plans to use in order to develop and manufacture a consumer version of the Oculus Rift.
