Palmer Luckey, the leader of the development process on the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality goggles, says that the developer kits for the new device are now delayed until March 2013.

On the official Kickstarter page he states, “Designing, sourcing, and manufacturing thousands of developer kits is no small feat. Since our Kickstarter, we’ve been up against the wall, working around the clock to produce and distribute over 7500 units in just 4 short, crazy months.”

The executive also says the original design was modified and that in 2013 the shipment process would initially target those who have placed their orders first.

7,500 Oculus Rift development kits, which are supported by titles like HAWKEN, should ship before the end of April 2013.

Other titles that use the new hardware are: Space Citizen, Minecraft and Doom 4.
