Rumors are suggesting that the Oculus Rift virtual reality team is at the moment working with Samsung in order to develop a new headset that can be used to deliver experiences on mobile devices, including phones and tablets.

NeoGAF says that the deal is designed so that the two companies exchange information and details about their technology in a mutually beneficial way and could be officially announced in the coming weeks.

Apparently, Oculus VR is mostly interested in getting access to the better OLED screens that Samsung is creating in order to integrate them into the consumer version of its virtual reality headset, which is at the moment set to be launched in the fall of this year.

At the moment, the company is only offering a second, better tech version of its developer kit, which can be used by teams in order to create their own virtual reality titles.

It’s unclear if there’s a big audience for such experiences on mobile devices or whether Samsung is focused on the gaming potential or on simply delivering more info to the user in a visual way.

Currently, the Oculus Rift team is also dealing with a lawsuit launched by ZeniMax Media, which is claiming that the core tech for the virtual reality headset has been obtained by breaching trade agreements.

It’s unclear whether the legal action will result in a prolonged trial or whether the two companies are aiming to settle in the coming months.

Oculus Rift continues to work on its technology despite the lawsuit and says that all the claims made by ZeniMax Media are without merit.

The virtual reality headset is seen by many as the future of gaming because it allows players to become more involved than ever in the world they are exploring.

At the same time, some companies, including Take Two, believe that the experience will only appeal to a limited segment of hardcore gamers and that the result will be to promote more anti-social experiences.

At the moment, Sony is also working on its own virtual reality device for the PlayStation 4, called Project Morpheus, which is in prototype stage and has only been demoed to a small number of developers.

The company says that it will wait until the technology is mature enough before launching a commercial product and that it wants as many teams as possible to create video games that support it.
