Nadya Suleman, or the “Octo-Mom” as the media dubbed her, could be closer to being a celebrity than she might know. Granted, this is not the first time that talk of her having had plastic surgery emerges, the only difference being that money is not the issue now. Suleman is just trying to copy Angelina Jolie, from being a famous mom down to her looks, Katherine Thomson says for The Huffington Post.
Ever since Suleman appeared on
the Today show to defend her choice of having so many babies against intense criticism, several media outlets have noticed that she seemed “different” from how she looked in pictures before getting pregnant with octuplets. Many speculated that she had some sort of lip filler or injections and certainly a nose job, which raised the question of how she could afford two such procedures when she was supposed to provide for the other six children she already had at home.
Thomson maintains that those who thought they saw some resemblance between Suleman and Angelina Jolie were right on the money. “Both women are 33 and are mothers to arguably, at least for now, the two most famous broods in the world. They also survived divorce, longed for children and chose to become single parents.” she writes in today’s issue of The Huffington Post.
“Consider this: In photos of Suleman pre-octuplets out Monday, she looks noticeably different. She has had what appears to be lip implants or filler injections to pump up her pucker. She’s also evidently had a nose job. Both nose and lips now mimic the features of Jolie, as others have pointed out. Suleman already had brown eyes and has now grown her dark brown hair all the way down her back.” Thomson further argues.
In all fairness, she is not the first to notice the eerie resemblance, as neither is she when it comes to observing that, just like Jolie, Suleman has also chosen Ann Curry to have her story reach the public. If this resemblance is more than just a simple coincidence, then Suleman’s credibility with the public she’s now trying to win over to her side has just taken a major hit. Add to that what her mother has been telling the media about her
inability to take care of her 14 children, and Nadya’s “I’m a responsible parent” defense no longer holds any water.
“She’s struggled with mental illness before her octuplet pregnancy, she’s on food stamps, three of her first six children receive disability payments, and she didn’t tell her mother, with whom she lives, about the $167,000 in disability payments she herself received.” Thomson further adds. “And I think Nadya Suleman believes she is like Angelina Jolie.” she concludes by saying.
