October 2013 is the first fully fledged European Cyber Security Month. During this month, 40 private and public stakeholders from 25 European countries will engage in cyber security activities meant to raise awareness.

European Commission Vice President and Commissioner Neelie Kroes has released a video statement to encourage everyone to take part in the campaign. The commissioner also provides a few tips on how to stay safe while surfing the Web.

The list of activities includes workshops, lectures, fairs, online and outdoor campaigns, meetings and contests.

“Cyber security is about the possibility to live your digital life. We encourage you to get involved in the campaign: online security requires your active participation!” said Executive Director of ENISA, Udo Helmbrecht.
