Last week, it has emerged that the hospital where Nadya Suleman’s octuplets are being held might not release them to her until she can come up with solid proof that she can provide for all 14 children. Now, TMZ has uncovered that this is not the first time that the OctoMom has had a brush with Child Services, as she was investigated before on allegations that her six children were not well cared for.

The gossip website and paparazzi agency has unveiled documents showing that Nadya Suleman’s case came to the attention of the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in June 2007, after one of her neighbors filed a complaint saying that her six children “were not clean or being fed properly.” At the same time, TMZ has learned that police officers were called to her house a total of eight times in less than a year.

“We’ve learned on July 7, 2008, DCFS received a complaint from a neighbor who felt Nadya’s six kids ‘were not clean or being fed properly.’ An investigation was opened, and DCFS took a Suspected Child Abuse Report. Investigators went to Nadya’s home, interviewed some of the kids and filed a report. Officials concluded the allegation was ‘unfounded.’” TMZ says of the Child Services looking into Suleman’s case. Nevertheless, her house was also visited by the police eight times over a very short time interval, the same media outlet explains.

“On January 9, 2008, someone called 911 after one of Nadya’s kids accidentally locked himself/herself in a room. The cops came and a patrol officer picked the lock. On October 27, 2008, Nadya called 911 in a panic because one of her kids was missing. Five patrol units responded to the house – turns out the five-year-old had followed grandma around the block. On January 23, 2009, three days before the OctoBabies were born and Nadya was in the hospital, one of the kids called 911 from the house. We don’t know why. Cops were called by neighbors twice (May 12, 2008 and August 10, 2008) because the front door was left open and they feared a break in. Cops went along with DCFS after getting the complaint on July 7, 2008. We all know about the two post-OctoBirth calls – when cops were called to control reporters and when a neighbor brandished a shotgun.” TMZ writes about the eight police visits Nadya Suleman got.

As noted above, Nadya Suleman herself told Dr. Phil, with whom she agreed to do an interview, that the hospital was threatening to not release her babies to her unless she could provide proof she “has a better living arrangement.” The Child Protective Services are currently looking into her situation to establish whether she is in any position to take the octuplets home and ultimately raise 14 children. Nadya Suleman, 33, is unmarried, unemployed, lives on all sorts of government assistance, and her mother’s house, in which she and the children have lived so far, is about to go up for foreclosure because she failed to make 10 months’ worth of payments.
