Philips promised a few months ago that it would bring the high-end I928 smartphone to India at some point this year. Well, it looks like this is about to happen, as the smartphone has been recently listed on the official website of Philips India.

The main problem is that the smartphone is not yet available for purchase, though Philips has already attached a price tag to the I928, so potential customers may want to know that they will have to come up with no less than Rs 35,538 ($585 / €435) upfront to get the high-end device.

The bad news is that Philips I928 will ship with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, according to the listing, which is unacceptable for a premium smartphone priced so high.

Anyway, those who still consider the I928 a worthy Android alternative to other, more expensive smartphones should know that the device is equipped with a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, which is complemented by a Mali 450-MP4 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The smartphone offers dual-SIM capability and boasts a huge 6-inch full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display. Philips I928 also packs an enhanced 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front.

The I928 packs 16GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB), as well as a high-capacity 3000 mAh battery.
