Gionee Elife E7 mini’s history in India is a bit confusing. The smartphone was showcased along with the standard version of Elife E7 back in late December. Although its bigger sibling has been released in India for quite a while, the mini version has made its debut in the country only recently.

We reported less than a week ago that Gionee Elife E7 mini appeared at several Indian online retailers with a Rs 19,500 ($325 / €235) price tag attached to it.

Today, fonearena reports that the Chinese company has officially announced the immediate availability of Elife E7 mini in India, thus putting an end to the saga.

The good news is that Gionee has confirmed a slightly smaller suggested retail price for the Elife E7 mini. So, instead of paying Rs 19,500 ($325 / €235), customers should be able to get it for only Rs 18,999 ($315 / €230) outright.

“The response to Elife E7 has been incredible, and we’re excited for customers to experience the new ELife E7 mini as we think customers will love these thin, light, powerful new smartphones,” said Arvind.R.Vohra, head of Gionee Smartphones, India.

For slightly more than $300 (€215), customers will get a solid octa-core smartphone that is almost on par in terms of performance with much more expensive devices launched by major companies such as Samsung, HTC and LG.

The Elife E7 mini is armed with a powerful 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, a Mali 450-MP4 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, but it lacks microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Just like Oppo N1, the Elife E7 mini boasts a 13-megapixel swivel camera on top, which features LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording.

More importantly, the smartphone offers dual-SIM support, along with lots of connectivity options, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with A-GPS support.

It is also worth mentioning that Elife E7 mini is powered by a non-removable 2100 mAh battery and includes FM Radio, along with 3.5mm audio jack.

Software-wise, Gionee Elife E7 mini runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box with Amigo UI 2.0 on top. However, the Chinese company has promised that the smartphone will eventually receive an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade sometime in the not so distant future.

Potential customers should know that Gionee’s high-end Android smartphone is now available in India in multiple color options, including Graphite Black, White, Purple and Blue.
