Chinese company Alcatel is about to introduce its high-end One Touch Idol X+ smartphone in the United States. Rumor has it that AT&T is expected to add the device to its portfolio in the not so distant future.

The folks over at AndroidCentral claim that they have received a few pictures showing the AT&T variant of Alcatel One Touch Idol X+, along with some info about the smartphone.

The first major improvement over the version that’s already available in lots of countries would be the fact that AT&T’s model will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. The unlocked model is still stuck on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for whatever reason.

Another change would be the microSD card slot for memory expansion, which is present in the AT&T model, but missing from the original version.

The rest of the phone’s specs seem to be similar, so expect AT&T’s Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ to come with a powerful octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also sports a hyper-vibrant 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

There’s no word on price tag or exact release date, but we expect more details to surface in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
