The OCS-9 Windows 7 slate from Ocosmos has been spotted before, but now the tablet is finally getting itself ready for entering into the retail market where it will start selling for roughly $700, about $511 Euros if you happen to live on the other side of the pond.

The tablet may seem hardly any different from all the other Windows 7 slates out there, but make no mistake as this device is one of the lightest and most compact tablets to run Microsoft's desktop OS.

To put things in perspective, the 10.1-inch Ocosmos OCS-9 slate weights 780 grams (1.72 pounds), which is only approximately 160 grams more than Apple iPad 2, while the body is just 12.4mm (less than half an inch) thick.

Speaking of the body, this is made entirely out of aluminum and the 1280x800 capacitive IPS LCD is hidden behind a glass screen.

Despite the low size and weight, the OCS-9 is powered by an Intel Oak Trail processor, the Atom Z670 to be more exact, which was especially designed for tablet use and it sports a single processing core, with HyperThreading support, clocked at 1.5GHz.

This is helped by an integrated PowerVR SGX 535 graphics core, renamed by Intel the GMA 600, with advanced video decode support.

The rest of the specifications list includes 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage space (expandable via microSD), a 1.3-megapixel front camera as well as Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.

A proprietary dock connector and an USB port are also provided, the latter being fully compatible with 3G or LTE modems.

Outside of the OCS-9 tablet, Ocosmos also plans to introduce a wide range of accessories, including a keyboard/battery dock that increases autonomy from 6 to 10 hours, an HDMI dock, and three different remote models.

The Ocosmos OCS-9 will begin shipping in Korea later this moth, while the US will get it in a matter of weeks (pending FCC approval). (via This is My Next)
