Football player Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, of the Miami Dolphins has been arrested for domestic violence, a misdemeanor charge.

According to ABC News, the player was arrested for "head-butting" wife Evelyn Lozado after she confronted him about her cheating on her.

Lozado asked Johnson about the cheating after finding a receipt for condoms in the trunk of his vehicle. He responded with an attack that left her with a cut on her forehead.

"I observed [redacted] to have a laceration on her forehead approximately 3'' (7.6 cm) in length.

"Based off the statements given to me, [redacted] injuries and my observations, I placed Johnson under arrest charging him with Simple Battery Domestic," arresting Officer Christopher Epps stated in his report.

Davie Police Captain Dale Engle describes her running to a neighbor's house to seek assistance, at which point her face was bloodied.

"Her face was covered in blood, in dry blood and wet blood," Engle notes.

Lozado was previously engaged to basketball star Antoine Walker, and she was featured on "Basketball Wives."

"I don't give a [expletive]! I don't give a [expletive] about my career!" Johnson allegedly shouted after attacking her.

She was set to star with Johnson in a second reality show on VH1, titled "Ev and Ocho." The couple have only been married since July.

"We've seen plenty of hearts broken over four hit seasons of Basketball Wives, but with a little luck, true love may finally win out in the new series Ev & Ocho," the show's description reads.

On Saturday, May 18, he was charged and detained at Broward County Jail over the night. Local 10 reported that he was set free after posting a $2,500 (€1,943) bond the next day.

He told police officers that he was the one being attacked by Lozado, prior to his arrest.
