Video game developer Obsidian has turned to Kickstarter in order to fund its new video game, called Project Eternity. After the game has been fully funded, the team has announced a number of new goals that will make the coming game even more attractive to old school role-playing fans.

If the game gets to 1.4 million dollars in funding (1.066 million Euro), Obsidian will add a new playable race, a new class and a new companion.

As the fans add 200,000 dollars (152,000 Euro) increments, the developers are promising: a Mac version for the game and another storyline complete with quests, characters and locations; another playable race, companion and class; a player-owned house complete with deep customization options; a new region to explore, a new companion to use, a new faction and a port for Linux.

It seems that Obsidian also has plans if the Kickstarter crowd pushes pledged funding for Project Eternity over the 2.4 million dollars (1.82 million Euro) mark.

The company also offered some feedback for fans who have shared their opinion about the new game and revealed that they planned to launch it without any Digital Rights Management solutions.

Project Eternity is a new party-powered old school role-playing game played from an isometric perspective which will be similar to old fan favorites that were created using the Infinity Engine.

The leader of the development team is Chris Avellone and some of the members of the old Black Isle studio are also involved.

The official description reads: “Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.”

There are more than 3,500 backers for Project Eternity at the moment who have pledged close to 1.4 million dollars (1.066 million Euro).
