The development team at Obsidian might already have two major projects it is working on, but the leader of the studio, Feargus Urquhart, says that he and his fellow game makers are always open to making a new Star Wars game.

The executive tells CVG that, “if someone called you up tomorrow and said, ‘hey, do you want to make a Star Wars game?’ What's the answer? I mean, that's how it happened with South Park. They called up and said, ‘hey, do you guys want to make a South Park game?’ And your quick, knee-jerk reaction is, well, yeah! I could say no because I don't want us to be seen as the developer that just makes licensed games.”

Urquhart believes that his company has plenty of experience when it comes to working with a variety of game universe and different genres.

He says that his attachment to Star Wars as a franchise goes back to his childhood and that he would jump at the chance to work with it in the future.

Obsidian has created the second Knights of the Old Republic title, which is widely seen by fans of the universe as one of the best game representations of the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith.

The title was rushed and launched in an incomplete state and fan groups have been working for years to restore all the core areas that the team included.

Feargus Urquhart says that he would also be interested in having Obsidian work on a Skyrim-like title for next-gen consoles.

He adds, “I'm not saying we're talking to Bethesda about doing a Skyrim-like game or anything like that, but just saying that's something we continue to call up and talk to publishers about. We have a lot of experience doing that, we love to do it, and if we can get them convinced of an idea, or if they already want to do it, then that would be something that we would choose to do.”

Obsidian has launched South Park: The Stick of Truth after a long and troubled development process, which involved the demise of original publisher THQ.

The team is at the moment focused on Pillars of Eternity, a classic role-playing game that will be delivered before the end of the year.

The company says that the experience will use turn-based battles and will have complex interactions between characters.
