The development team at Obsidian is confirming that it has no plans to make its upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth compatible with the Uplay service from publisher Ubisoft.

The entire game infrastructure is designed to use the rival Steam from Valve, which means that Achievements are available and that extra content could be delivered by fans using the Workshop, according to the developer on Twitter.

Traditionally, all Ubisoft PC games have used uPlay, which has been plagued by bugs and is widely seen as a problem even by fans of the company.

Obsidian was originally working on the South Park video game with now defunct publisher THQ and the company probably did not have the time and the resources to make the switch to Uplay.

The Stick of Truth is set to arrive on March 4 in North America and three days later in Europe on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
