The developers also talk about the creation process for one major deity

The development team at Obsidian continues to slowly offer more information on Project Eternity, its party-based role-playing game, with George Ziets, a designer working on it, speaking about the way the gods of its universe are being created.

Project Eternity is being made by Obsidian from the ground up and that means that the team has complete freedom when it comes to the creation of religion, deities and behaviors for the followers, something that the studio has never had before.

Ziets says on the official forum that, “Deities can be a good starting point when developing a world. They reflect the views and beliefs of the world’s inhabitants, and they can inspire ideas for characters, organizations, and conflicts.”

He has also mentioned a number of gods: Magran, ruler of war and fire, Berath, who’s dominion is death and doors, Eothas, the god of light and redemption.

He has then focused on a newly introduced Project Eternity deity: Woedica, a former ruler of the gods who has been cast out and sees law, rightful rulers, memory and vengeance as her primary concerns.

The developer has further explained: “she manifests in the world as the Strangler, a leathery-skinned old woman, always clad in tattered finery, who appears on an empty road or abandoned alleyway to murder those who break a solemn oath.”

Ziets has explained the process that resulted in Woedica being created out of a single image that the developer focused on and has also revealed that a similar design philosophy was being applied to the rest of the gods.

More information about Woedica will be revealed at a later date and the developer implies that the player-controlled party will interact with her in the final product.

Obsidian has also released a new image for Project Eternity, featuring an Orlan who is engaged in important work in a city inside Drywood.

Project Eternity was funded via Kickstarter and will allow the studio to create an old-school role-playing experience built on party mechanics.
