The leader of the development team at Obsidian Entertainment has said that his company plans to launch a role-playing game that is exclusive to digital distribution in the first quarter of 2012, but that they are also preparing for a big announcement for the E3 trade show.

Speaking to Game Revolution, the Feargus Urquhart, the chief executive officer of Obsidian, has said that the digital-only role-playing game will initially arrive on the Xbox Live Arcade service from Microsoft and that its focus would not be on complex mechanics but on creating a fun experience.

He explained that the game, which does not yet have a name, will have a different camera and a different world than Dungeon Siege III.

He also said, "There actually is another game that I can't talk about at all. It's a licensed product that when people hear about it, they're going to be 'well you had to do that. There's no option, if I was a developer and I was offered that, I would just do it.'”

The official announcement will come at E3 or around that time

The CEO says that his company also has other idea that is pitching to publishers, including a game about a world where an evil force similar to Sauron from The Lord of the Rings has won and another older concept.

There's also a chance that Obsidian would create a free-to-play game using its role-playing game experience.

Obsidian has been very busy during the last year and it seems that the developer will be as preoccupied with creating games in the future.

Last year the company launched Alpha Protocol, which was a flawed but very deep and well crafted narrative, and Fallout: New Vegas, the very good side story set in the same universe as the Bethesda hit from a few years ago.

In late May, the company will launch Dungeon Siege III.
