If this doesn't get your nerd radar beeping, nothing will. The word around Hollywood is that Lucasfilm and Disney are planning a separate standalone movie about everyone's favorite Jedi knight, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

A report from Making Star Wars claims that the studio is so impressed with fans' response to Obi-Wan Kenobi that they've already greenlit a project in which he's the protagonist. “I've heard from quite a few people now that an obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works,” a source claimed.

Fans took to the official site to vote for their favorite character, and it seems that votes went out to the Jedi knight in droves, so much so that the studio was swayed to turn over their decision to not feature any Jedi or Sith in the standalone movies.

The big question now is who will play Obi-Wan in the separate movies. In part films, Ewan McGregor portrayed the Jedi and he seems to have struck a chord with fans. The actor himself admitted that he was quite partial to the role and that he would love to return in a spin-off.

In the meantime, the latest Star Wars movie, “Episode VII,” is in the works right now, and is set to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2015.
