It may not seem like much of an accomplishment, but it is

About two months ago, some people in Texas came across an obese cat who weighed a whopping 41 pounds (18.6 kilograms). In other words, the feline weighed as much as your average 4-year-old child.

Because the cat was simply too fat to be put up for adoption, a veterinarian from Dallas named Brittney Barton decided to take the obese feline under her care, and help it lose some weight.

With Brittney's help, the cat succeeded in dropping 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms). However, it still has a long way to go until it reaches 30 pounds (13.6 kilograms) and can be safely adopted by a willing family.

Some might say that Skinny's accomplishment is not all that great, but the veterinarian looking after it explains that this 4-pounds weight loss is proof that the cat is making significant progress towards getting back in shape.

For the time being, Brittney is quite confident that a healthy diet and regular exercise will help this 5-year-old orange tabby shed the extra pounds, sources say.
