In an anticipated and highly-expected move, president Barack Obama has gone after some of the latest climate proposals that former president George W. Bush tried to push through Congress in the time frame between Election Day and Inauguration Day. These decisions are usually very hard to reverse and take years to do so, that's why having Obama starting the nullification process is now such good news.

One of the most positive aspects of the new rulings is that states will from now on be allowed to regulate the amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases cars are permitted to emit on their streets. Bush attempted to pass on legislation preventing them from doing so, thus pleasing his friends in the fossil fuel industry. Obama has also instructed staff members to create a new bil that is to introduce vehicle fuel efficiency standards. The new law, to take effect in 2011, will be available in March.

Finally, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be brought in check again, following its rampant and systematic destruction of the very landscapes it was created to protect. Obama has announced that he will urge the agency to allow the state of California to impose its own regulations regarding car gas emissions. An official at the White House says that it may be a few months until the agency decides what to do with this particular case.

Under the Bush administration, California was deprived of the right to receive federal approval for starting its own laws on imposing new limits on carbon dioxide emissions from vehicles registered in the state. Many states in the US sued Stephen Johnson, the former chief of the agency, over the fact that his decisions were politically directed by president Bush, who had other people's interests in mind.

One a more general note, president Obama has revealed that he will keep true to his word of setting America on a path against global warming. Under the new administration, the US is said to become one of the leading countries in the world, when it comes to imposing and upholding bills and other legislation to protect the environment.
