Seven of the top finishers in the Kona Ironman in 2006 were wearing a pair of Radar shades

If you're the athlete type that loves to run with dark sunglasses, you'll probably hail the Oakley Radar glasses as the best since the Greeks opened the first Olympic Games. Weighing about 60 g, the Radar is a pair of shades with a difference: it features the new Hydrophobic lens coating technology. That will prevent moisture build up and also skin oil messing the lens surface (they're also smudge resistant).

The Radar features black-iridium or bronze finish that will look as good on the streets as it does in the triathlon scenario. The glasses also come with interchangeable lenses in a few different colors and styles. Another interesting feature is the Plutonite Lenses that filter out Ultraviolets (UV) and presumably meet industrial standard for impact protection. And to make sure you don't lose these precious shades, the Radar also come equipped with Oakley's Unobtainiom synthetic that increase the adherence level between the sunglasses and your, well, ears.

The Hydrophobic permanent lens technology, I feel sure, will determine even more athletes to wear sunglasses during the Fold Ironman World Championship (triathlon that is) at Kona. Being able to wear the glasses through all the triathlon "run", will probably make athletes struggle less in transition. No wonder seven of the top finishers in the Kona Ironman contest in 2006 were wearing these glasses.

Depending on the lens color you choose (Bronze polarized range, Black Iridium polarized range), the type of lenses or the lens shape, a pair of Radar shades will cost you somewhere between 175$ to 255$. You can get one from the Oakley website.
