T-Mobile, subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and one of the world's largest mobile operators, has started offering a new Instant Messaging solution for its subscribers in Germany and the UK. The solution is provided together with OZ, a Canadian company said to cater to about 85 million users with its mobile IM clients.
With OZ, T-Mo's European customers will be able to enjoy easy access to their favorite Instant Messaging services directly from their mobile phones. The IM clients supported by OZ include Yahoo!, AOL, ICQ and Windows Live Messenger.
When using the OZ Mobile IM solution, consumers will deal with a simple and quick sign-up process, as well as with an intuitive mobile experience. The messaging application can be configured and customized directly on the users’ handset.
Given that T-Mobile did not mention whether the new OZ messaging solution is offered for a monthly fee or not, it certainly looks like this is one of those free services that are always more than welcome.
Talking about the collaboration with the Canada-based company, Senior Vice President of Mobile Messaging and Data Services at T-Mobile International AG, Matthias Schröter, declared, “OZ has worked very closely with us to successfully deploy our new UK and German Mobile IM service, meeting challenging time to market requirements. They worked diligently to ensure that the service is fully integrated with our existing billing and user authentication infrastructure, and provides our subscribers with a streamlined and compelling user experience.”
OZ President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Knapik added, “OZ mobile instant messaging offers users an intuitive user experience and access to all their favorite IM communities while providing our operators partners, such as T-Mobile, with a high growth revenue-generating service. With customized branding, open standards support and high system reliability, the OZ Mobile IM solution delivers industry leading features that drive subscriber loyalty.”
Aside from T-Mobile, OZ is also providing Instant Messaging solutions for other European carriers, including TDC, Telenor Norway, Telenor Sweden, 3 Denmark and 3 Sweden.
