They turn two different storage units into more than the sum of their parts

RAID technology works, in a sense, like those armor and weapon sets from RPG's and hack-and-slash games. OWC decided to give owners of Apple products such benefits.

Basically, RAID takes two or more storage devices, preferably identical or at least similar, and makes them seem like a single drive.

Some of the overall capacity is lost, turned into a sort of cache memory, but the performance and security gains more than make up for it.

Thus, the 3 TB Mercury Elite Pro Dual mini portable hardware-RAID storage cases could sell quite well to owners of Apple Macs, MacBooks, iPads, etc.

The Mercury Elite Pro Dual mini have two 2.5-inch drive bays, for HDDs or SSD. They connect via FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0, or eSATA. The Transfer speed is of 300 MB/s with Mac and PCs.

The only difference is that one configures the drives into RAID-1 (for robust data protection) and the other into RAID-0 (for maximum performance).

Customers should prepare $359.99 / €270 for any of the Mercury Elite Pro Dual mini models.
