Twitter is one of the best new additions in OS X Mountain Lion, mainly because it makes a simple task even simpler. If you’re a hardcore user of the microblogging service, you’ll love Mountain Lion when it comes out later this year.

Twitter was first integrated in iOS. After seeing how quickly it gained traction, Apple decided to implement this feature for desktop customers too.

Twitter is a great service for people who have a lot to say. For example, news editors like myself often use social ties to fire off their headlines in all the right directions. With Twitter integration, OS X Mountain Lion will enable a workflow like never before.

“Tweet right from your apps. OS X Mountain Lion keeps you on top of all things Twitter. Sign in once and you’re all set to start tweeting — and you don’t have to leave the app you’re in,” says Apple.

“Tweet links and photos directly from Safari, iPhoto, or Photo Booth with the new Tweet Sheet. Tweet comments and add locations. And when someone mentions you in a tweet or sends you a direct message, you’ll get a Twitter notification right then and there,” adds the Mac maker.

It remains to be seen whether this new feature in Mountain Lion will render Twitter applications obsolete when it's released this summer.

It’s hard to give up wonderful services like TweetDeck which allow you to manage your tweets, messages, @mentions etc. with great precision and ease. The interface is also pretty friendly, despite its numerous options and buttons.

OS X Mountain Lion is scheduled to debut this summer, Apple confirmed in February. It includes hundreds of new APIs that give developers access to new core technologies and enhanced features within OS X, and offers features specifically designed to support Chinese users.
