One more feature axed by Apple seemingly without a solid reason

OS X Mavericks not only doesn’t bring back Save As, but it also axes yet another feature that Mac users have grown accustomed to, namely the Ctrl+Eject keyboard shortcut.

On OS X Mountain Lion (and on older versions of the OS) you can hit Ctrl and the Eject key together to bring up the dialog pictured above.

It’s a shortcut to a bunch of handy actions that are found in the Apple menu. If you don’t want to reach for the mouse, it’s a pretty “handy” tool for quickly shutting down your Mac. All you need to do is invoke the dialog and then just press Return (Enter).

If you’re planning to upgrade to OS X Mavericks when it comes out, I hope you haven’t grown too fond of this action because it’s no longer there in the new Mac OS.

Of course, this being an early beta of Mavericks, Apple could well bring the feature back in future releases.
