People with knowledge of Apple’s 2013 roadmap report that OS X Mavericks, the latest revision to the company’s Macintosh operating system, is scheduled to arrive next month.

Citing sources with knowledge of Apple’s plans, 9to5mac reports, “Apple plans to release its next Mac operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, at the end of October.”

Apple reportedly wants to focus the better part of its software engineering resources towards the iOS 7 launch. Plus, OS X Mavericks launching in mid-October would coincide with previous OS X refresh timetables, and it would allow Apple to deploy the software alongside some new Macs.

These Macs include the already-confirmed and totally revamped Mac Pro, as well as new versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro with Intel’s Haswell processors.

OS X Mavericks is likely to cost $19.99 / €17.99, just like its predecessor, OS X Mountain Lion.
