A new beta of OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 is available on the Mac Dev Center. Registered developers can download build 13C44 right now and test key areas like SMB2, Mail, Messages, VoiceOver, and others.

The third such beta released to registered Apple developers, OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Build 13C44 asks testers to focus their coding skills on key areas of the operating system, including SMB2, Mail, Messages, Graphics Drivers, VoiceOver, and VPN.

As usual, people enrolled with Apple’s annual seeding program can install this update using the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility.

Those who already have a previous beta installed (along with OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility) must simply choose Software Update from the Apple menu.

OS X 10.9.2 is expected to include a number of important fixes, including a Wi-Fi patch for MacBook Air customers. Unfortunately, such details have never been provided in the seed notes in recent years.

As usual, Apple tells developers, “Please be aware that you will not be able to revert back to your previous system after updating. Please install this update on a system you are prepared to erase if necessary.”

“This build is being provided to you for testing and development purposes. Should you encounter any problems, please submit a bug report using the online Bug Reporter at bugreporter.apple.com. Please make sure to include ‘10.9.2 (13C44)’ in the bug title and description. This information will ensure that your bug is processed quickly,” the company adds.

When reporting a bug to Apple, developers must include the diagnostic output generated by running “sudo sysdiagnose” in the Terminal, as well as formal notes including Summary, Steps to Reproduce, Expected Results, Actual Results.

When development on OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 is complete, Apple will release the software as a free software update for all users.
