Remote Desktop Client is also being updated with “usability” fixes

Apple is moving forward with the development of its first incremental update for OS X Mavericks, but the company is also testing new versions of Safari, Mail, iBooks, and Remote Desktop in parallel.

People familiar with Apple’s internal seeding programs are telling 9to5mac that iBooks 1.0.1 is currently in testing and “includes bug fixes and improvements to performance and stability.”

Safari 7.0.1 is being developed with an unknown set of changes, and Apple Remote Desktop Client version 3.7.1 will be “recommended for all Apple Remote Desktop clients and addresses several issues related to overall reliability, usability, and compatibility.”

A new version of Mail was already known to be in development and, according to the same people with knowledge of the software, “it will be a dedicated patch that is likely not rolled into a OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 update,” the site reports.

Mavericks is suffering from a number of issues which Apple has undoubtedly made a priority in the testing of its first maintenance update.

Just yesterday we noted that a handful of users on Apple Support Communities were reporting sound problems after upgrading to the new OS X 10.9. The issue kicks in when the computer wakes up from sleep, with the only safe workaround being to restart the Mac altogether.

Depending on the customer’s configuration (Macintosh model, RAM, installed software, etc.) any number of issues can arise, and even more so following the release of a major new version of Apple’s desktop operating system.

While Mavericks is free to download from the Mac App Store, this doesn’t prevent Apple from immediately trying to address issues reported by the customer base.

While OS X 10.9.1 may be weeks away, the aforementioned sources suggested that the new Mail, Safari, iBooks, and Apple Remote Desktop updates could be just days away.
