iMac (Late 2013) models shipping from the US as of this week may exhibit an issue where “iTunes audio distorts via Thunderbolt display,” according to a Support document posted by Apple.

Manufactured before the OS X 10.8.5 update hit the wires, Apple’s Late 2013 iMac models come with upgraded specs, but also with a fair dose of bugs apparently.

Multiple out-of-the-box flaws have been documented by Apple in various Support articles (including one which references an unreleased Mountain Lion update), and the latest such article documents an audio flaw involving Thunderbolt displays.

Apple says, “iTunes audio may have distortion such as pops, crackles, or drops when played through a Thunderbolt display.”

The resolution is as simple as can be, as in the customer only needs to download and install Apple’s OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.5 update. The Cupertino giant is known to have prepared a Supplemental 10.8.5 update as well, but that one is yet to be released.
