OCZ is ready to mass produce video cards

I remember a time when Mushkin was only making memory modules and eVGA was only selling video cards. But as the market evolves so do the companies that need to stay ahead of the demand somehow. That doesn't necessarily mean that a Mushkin PSU is as good as its memory sticks or that eVGA also produces kick-ass motherboards (although it really does, but tolerate this statement for the sake of the comparison?). And this trend is starting to breathe fresh air into almost all the redneck's heads that were only active in one product line. OCZ for example, started with high performance memory sticks. Later it gained a Topower based PSU line. And now it's time for VGA cards to carry the OCZ brand further.

As any newcomer in the business of integrating GPUs and selling video cards, OCZ had the choice of choosing between Nvidia and AMD (Ati) GPUs. And since Nvidia's 3D is shinier than Ati's (at least for the moment), the company of course chose to partner with them. The result will come in the form of an OCZ GeForce 8800 series. It seems that at first, OCZ will have a more reference-like approach on its video cards but will eventually design its own video card PCBs in order to give the new card line its own identity.

Speaking of it, there's not much you can say about the 8800 series cards since they all look alike and perform exactly the same. This statement (I know it sounds poor but it's not my mistake) leaves me pretty pissed at Nvidia, because they decided to ban factory overclocking, motive for which all current 8800 GTX/GTS cards come with the same GPU/memory frequencies. But as I've said before, it won't take long before one manufacturer breaks the pact. Does OCZ have the guts to perform the trick?
