OCZ has outed a new firmware version targeted at its Vector solid state drives, namely build 3.0, which can be applied using the producer’s 4.5.2.298 toolbox.

When it comes to changes, this fresh release increases the SSD’s ability to handle an unexpected power loss, includes additional stability, reliability, and garbage collection routines improvements, and fixes a specific problem encountered with the ATA password that failed on certain mobile platforms.

As for applying this build, since the upgrade might be destructive, we recommend that you back up all your important data before updating to a new firmware version. Also, bear in mind that the computer must be connected to the Internet during the installation.

When done, get, install, and then start the latest OCZ Toolbox, select the SSD you want to update, and click on the “Tools” icon to display the “Driver Configuration Management Tools.”

From there select “Update Firmware,” wait for the new version to be downloaded and, if prompted, confirm the installation.

At this point, a progress bar should be displayed on the screen and, when completed, don’t forget to perform a system reboot to make sure that all changes take effect properly.

That being said, download OCZ Toolbox 4.5.2.298 / Vector SSD Firmware 3.0, install the utility, and update your solid state drive firmware version to the latest.
