OCZ is probably among the first choices of most computer enthusiasts out there when it comes to high-performance memory or computer-related accessories. However, the company has also entered the world of personal computing with its DIY (Do-It-Yourself) notebook lineup, a concept that allows computer enthusiasts to configure their own portable system pretty much the way they would do with a desktop configuration. Just recently, OCZ introduced the latest 15-inch DIY gaming notebook that combines Intel's latest mobile platform, Centrino 2, with ATI's Radeon integrated graphics, to deliver the level of performance required by most gaming users out there.

"At OCZ, empowering the enthusiast end-user in the mobile gaming space is an exciting opportunity for us, and with the powerful technology found in our latest Intel Centrino 2 based notebook we are again at the forefront of this growing market,” said Director of Product Management, Ryan Edwards. “With OCZ DIY notebooks, end-users have complete control of the cost/performance ratio of key components, giving consumers the opportunity to personalize a true gaming and multi-tasking powerhouse notebook by using a validated component list and our easy to follow step-by-step manual included with every DIY package."

As with the company's other DIY notebooks, the new 15-inch model offers several built-in features, such as a 512MB GDDR3-equipped ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card, high-definition surround sound, integrated touchpad with scroll bar, and a 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery, as well as a 15-inch WXGA+ display that can output a maximum resolution of 1280 by 800. There's also a combo optical Blu-ray drive, wireless network connectivity, fingerprint reader and 2MP web camera.

These all are, as noted above, built-in features, but users can choose their own processor, amount of memory and storage capacity, as the system can support several of Intel's Core 2 Duo and Extreme processors, up to 8GB of dual-channel DDR2 memory, and a maximum of 500GB of storage space.

No details on pricing just yet, but given that the offer lets you configure the notebook's internal performance specifications, you are bound to end up with a configuration that not only comes to meet your gaming requirements, but also your financial expectations.
