Overclocking specialist OCZ has just introduced its DDR3-based PC3-16000 Flex II Series of memory modules with enhanced cooling system for smooth and safe overclocking. According to the manufacturer, the premium memory
modules run at blazing speeds of 2000 MHz and sport CL8-8-8 timings.

Just like their DDR2-based sibling, the Flex-II series of memory modules are designed for hardcore overclocking and come with a professional cooling solution. The modules are especially suitable for systems that are already equipped with liquid-cooling systems.

OCZ built the Flex-II series using an innovative heat dissipation design, comprised of hybrid water and passive cooling. The PC3-16000 Flex-II modules sport the new thermal management technology from OCZ, that mixes a redesigned and enhanced heatspreader with an integrated liquid injection system, able to dissipate the enormous amounts of residual heat generated by the underlying high-speed memory chips.

The oversized heatspreader is placed directly onto the module's ICs for better heat transfer. The passive cooling itself is designed in such a manner that allows users to squeeze maximum performance even though they do not connect the memory modules to a liquid cooling solution. Of course, the best results are achieved when using both passive and active cooling simultaneously.

According to the company, the C3-16000 Flex II modules are optimized for maximum DDR3 performance and are especially suitable for integration with platform built around Nvidia's 790i chipset with SLI technology. However, given the fact that the 790i chipset is reportedly corrupting users' data on overclocked systems, we'd rather run our Flex II modules in different hardware configurations.

The new memory offering from OCZ will hit the shelves in 2GB dual-channel kits (2x1024MB), and is expected to arrive with out-of-the-box overclocking capabilities. The water-cooling system is also factory-installed to let users enjoy the products immediately after purchase. The company did not announce pricing or availability for the PC3-16000 Flex-II.
