OCZ Technology, one of the world's leading vendors of high-performance memory modules and Flash-based storage solutions, has announced today the expansion of its line of DDR3 memory, with the introduction of the new OCZ Black Edition 4GB kits, designed specifically for AMD's next generation of Phenom II processors. With the Black Edition name tag, the kits should provide AMD enthusiasts with a choice for their latest high-performance processors, also boasting the Black Edition naming scheme. According to the San Jose, California-based memory vendor, the new kits have been
designed to work at ultra-low voltages and provide a choice for a high-performance desktop rig.

“OCZ is excited to launch our new AMD Black Edition Ready Series which is designed specifically to work with AMD’s OverDrive™ software utility,” said Eugene Chang, vice president of product management at the OCZ Technology Group. “The new OCZ Black Edition modules not only interact with AOD to overclock the memory, but also communicate with the BIOS to increase the frequency and performance of the memory controller. The result is a symbiotic relationship between memory and the rest of the system to unleash the full power of the Dragon Platform.”

With the new modules, AMD enthusiasts can take advantage of the performance features of AMD's own 'Black Edition' Phenom processors, while the AMD OverDrive utility enables overclockers to boost system performance by raising the clock speeds of the processors and memory modules. These modules are designed to work on the latest 790FX and 790GX motherboards, combined with the AOD utility, which lets users take advantage of an auto-overclocking feature that enables the computer system to work at its peak performance.

Available in capacities of 4GB on CL 7 and CL 8 configurations, these new modules are designed to work at 1.65 volts and a speed of 1600MHz. Unfortunately, the company hasn't announced the pricing and availability details of the new kits.
