OCZ Technology recently announced that they are planning to expand their Ram based products by adding a value line. That may sound a little odd when coming from such a brand as OCZ. Maybe we've gotten used to them launching only high end sticks and that's why it
sounds a little awkward but I guess they know better.
The new System Elite memory line is actually targeted at the main system integrators in order to offer full compatibility and enhanced performance at a lower price. Besides that, OCZ says that its modules will still well overclock and they guarantee that extra voltage will not void the warranty.
"This new range of memory is designed to give System Builders a solution that is optimized for system stability and compatibility on the most popular Intel and AMD based platforms chosen for high performance builds," said Alex Mei, vice president of marketing at OCZ Technology.
The first products that will be produced in this line are PC2-4200 (533MHz, CL4 4-4-12), PC2-5300 (667MHz, CL5 5-5-12) and PC2-6400 (800MHz, CL5 5-5-15) modules, all rated at a standard 1.8V (OCZ says that they will work well at 2.0V if you need additional voltage in order to up the frequency). The sticks use eXtreme thermal convection (XTC) heat-spreaders, proprietary to OCZ and come with lifetime warranty.
OCZ Technology already produces Value-series and Performance-series sticks with both products targeting small system integrators and enthusiasts. However, with the System Elite memory-series, the company fully complies with JEDEC standards offering no enhancements to its memory. And that may sound even more appealing than before, at least to system integrators.
OCZ System Elite memory modules come in 512MB and 1GB forms or in 1GB and 2GB dual-channel kits. Price tag is unknown at the moment.
