OCZ looks to expand its line of Solid State Drives, providing computer users with a more diversified offering. Just recently, the flash memory vendor has announced the introduction of a new series of SSDs, specifically designed to meet the performance and budget requirements of mainstream desktop and notebook users. Simply dubbed Agility, OCZ' new series of 2.5-inch SSDs, has been built to provide a higher performance alternative to traditional hard disk drives, joining other mainstream SSDs in OCZ’s offering.

“The new Agility Series of SSDs are the latest addition to the OCZ lineup of solid state drives and are designed for cost-conscious consumers seeking the performance and reliability benefits of SSDs at an aggressive price,” commented Ryan Edwards, director of product management at the OCZ Technology Group. “The new Agility Series drives make use of cache to deliver better performance over a wide range of functions and applications, all at a price point that makes sense for everyday users.”

According to OCZ, its new Agility series will be capable of providing computer users with a high level of performance, taking advantage of the latest breakthroughs in the SSD technology. The design of the new Agility series includes an efficient controller and 64MB of cache, which together will provide users with speeds of 230MB/s and 135MB/s for read and write, respectively. As you can expect from almost any of the latest SSDs on the market, the OCZ Agility series can prove an energy-efficient and a higher-performance alternative to current traditional HDDs.

Packed inside a familiar 2.5-inch chassis, the Agility drives are designed to provide users with about 1.5 million hours of MTBF, also backed by a two-year warranty. The new series will be available in capacities of 30GB, 60GB and 120GB and provide storage support to both desktop and notebook computer users. Unfortunately, OCZ hasn't announced any details regarding the pricing and availability details of its latest series of SSDs.
