Even though OCZ concentrates most of its attention on the SSD space nowadays, the company is still an active player in the power supply market and, in order to accentuate this, it has recently released the ZT modular PSU series that is specially designed for system builders and gamers.

The series is comprised of three models with a wattage of 550W, 650W, and 750W, but all of these feature similar specifications as well as a single 12V rail, which can deliver between 45A and 62A of power depending on the model chosen.

As far as the available connectors are concerned, all the units feature a minimum of five SATA power plugs, at least six MOLEX plugs, as well as two 6+2-pin PCI Express connectors.

The 750W models adds another two PCI Express plugs to the mix (both 6+2 pin), making it compatible with 3-way AMD CrossFireX and Nvidia SLI multi-GPU configurations.

OCZ's latest power supplies are kept cool under heavy usage with a large temperature and load-controlled 140mm double ball-bearing fan.

All the power supplies are certified by the 80PLUS organization to deliver an 85% energy efficiency at 50% load (which equals with a Bronze label) and also comply with the ErP (Energy Related product) directive to ensure less than 1W of power is used in passive standby and off modes.

“The new ZT power supply is designed with quality components and rich features including a fully modular design for easy configuration and superior airflow within desktops,” said Steve Lee, Senior VP and General Manager of Power Management at OCZ Technology Group.

“This ZT PSU Series delivers clean and efficient power with the flexibility of modular cabling all at a competitive price point making it an ideal choice for mainstream consumers,” concluded the company's rep.

OCZ's ZT-series PSUs are expected to become available shortly with an MSRP of $99.99, $109.99, and $119.99 (73, 80 and 87 Euros) respectively.
