After both drives have been already detailed and pictured, OCZ has decided to make official the SandForce-based Agility 3 and Solid 3 SSDs, which should become available for purchase in the not-so-distant future.

The two solid state drives are based on the SandForce SF-2281 controller which packs a native SATA 6Gbps interface to offer some of the highest performances available in the storage world.

Although similar, the SSDs differentiate themselves through the maximum transfer speeds supported as the Agility 3 has been tweaked in order to deliver better performance while the Solid 3 targets more value-oriented systems.

As a result, the Agility 3 can support sequential transfer rates of up to 525MB/s reads and 500MB/s writes, compared to the 500MB/s reads and 450MB/s writes of the Solid 3 as well as a maximum of 60,000 4KB random write IOPS whereas its smaller brother is limited at 20,000 IOPS.

“With increased availability of SATA III platforms, the demand for the latest generation SSDs has grown rapidly,” said Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ technology Group.

“We are addressing this demand with new products that offer both the best performance and value for consumers. The new Agility 3 and Solid 3 SSDs make it easier than ever for consumers take advantage of the new SATA III interface.

“When coupled with the speed and reliability benefits that our SSDs offer over traditional hard drives, it makes the two new series the ideal choices for mobile and desktop applications,” concluded the company's rep.

Both drives are available in three different capacities, 60GB, 120GB and 240GB, and come with a 3-year warranty.

As far as pricing is concerned, the 60GB version of the Solid 3 will be available for 109€, while the 120GB version will be priced at 199€.

In comparison, the 60GB version of the Agility 3 is priced at 119.90€, while the 120GB model retails for 214.90 €.
