It's becoming somewhat of a trend among memory makers to come up with their own Flash-based memory storage devices, including here USB drives or memory cards. And it seems that the people over at OCZ have decided to join this very competitive market, as they've just announced the release of their microSD memory card line,
which provides relatively high storage capacities for such a device, as well as fast data transfer speeds.
Thus, according to the company, this latest release comes as a natural response to the demands of a market where mobile phones and mobile accessories are becoming increasingly important. Moreover, since microSD is the smallest flash-based storage solution format available on the market, it is used in the latest-generation portable devices, thus making it a very good solution for the future as well.
The OCZ microSD utilizes the latest technology in flash memory and comes complete with an SD adapter to make transferring and viewing data between various devices easier while a second version also includes a miniSD adaptor for maximum compatibility. Moreover, the memory cards are available in 66X speeds, which, in other words, means that they can attain a minimum write speed of around 9 MB/s and a minimum read speed of around 10 MB/s.
"With such a wide range of consumer devices it is often hard for consumers to both pick the right type of SD memory, and it is just as difficult trying to manage three different types of cards among various phones, PDAs, and MP3 players," said Alex Mei, Chief Marketing Officer, OCZ Technology Group. "OCZ is releasing two different multi microSD kits complete with either an adapter for SD or both adapters for miniSD and SD. Never before has it been easier to buy a single type of SD memory to transfer data or pull double duty between your consumer electronics."
Unfortunately, there's no word on just how much these things are going to cost, but we'll keep you posted as any new developments occur.
