OCZ Technology has recently announced the introduction of the Slate Series ExpressCard storage expansion drive, a high-performance storage solution, designed to provide support for the latest generation of high-performance portable computer systems. The product should come in handy to those users that require a backup solution for their portable PCs, which eliminates the need of a peripheral device. In addition, the high-performance memory maker has also introduced the new Vertex SATA II 2.5-inch Solid State Drive Series, as an alternative to current SSD products on the market.

The Slate Series ExpressCard has been specifically build for on-the-go notebook users that require an alternative to backup storage products that are conventionally featured with a USB interface. OCZ's Slate Series line of ExpressCard-based storage solutions will become available for notebook users in capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. Thanks to the integration of a mini-USB port, the Slate Series can also be connected to a desktop PC, thus allowing users to transfer the data to their primary desktop system, or any other desktop PC.

In addition to the Slate Series ExpressCard, the company also introduced the 2.5-inch SATA II Vertex Solid State Drive (SSD), as an alternative to current storage products on the market. It boasts an impressive read speed of 200MB/s and a write speed said to reach 160MB/s, while the onboard cache of 64MB should further boost the drive's performance. Where storage is concerned, the Vertex series, which comes to build on the company's Core and Solid series, will be available with capacities ranging from 30GB to 250GB, for prices ranging from $249 to $869, respectively.

“The new Vertex Series of SSD drives are a premium MLC based SSD solution that are designed for consumers that require fast, rugged, and reliable solid state storage,” commented Director of Product Management for the OCZ Technology Group, Eugene Chang. “The Vertex makes use of our newest architecture and controller design complete with 64MB of cache to offer faster transfers and superior overall system response times in a broad range of applications and games.”
