After having been showcased at this year's CeBIT show in Hanover, Germany, OCZ's first netbook, the Do-It-Yourself Neutrino, has finally been officially launched by the San Jose, California-based company. Designed to provide users with a DIY alternative on the netbook market, the new Neutrino from OCZ is said to be capable of meeting the requirements of a series of users, ranging from hardware enthusiasts to mainstream professionals.
Based on the very familiar Intel Atom platform that has been enabled on almost every other netbook on the market, the Neutrino comes to provide the end-user with a wide range of personalization and configuration options.

“There are many consumers that desire the blend of essential functionalities and an ultra compact form factor, and our new Neutrino Do-It-Yourself netbook based on Intel Atom technology allows users to design and configure their very own solution tailored to their unique needs,” commented Alex Mei, CMO of the OCZ Technology Group. “The Neutrino DIY netbook puts the control back in the hands of consumers by allowing them to configure a feature rich netbook with their own memory, storage, and preferred OS into a reasonably priced go-anywhere computing solution.”

According to the available specifications, the Neutrino comes in a 10.1-inch form factor and is powered by one of Intel's most successful Atom processors, the 1.6GHz Atom N270 model. The system is based on an integrated Intel 945GSE chipset and offers support for up to 2GB of system memory. It can be equipped with either a large-capacity 2.5-inch 250GB HDD or even a high-performance Flash-based SSD with capacities ranging from 30GB to 250GB. Other configuration options include an optional 4-in-1 card reader and Kensington Lock security.

The Neutrino also boasts a VGA port, RJ-45 Ethernet port, 2 USB ports, built-in 1.3MP webcam, wireless 802.11 b/g connectivity, 2 high-quality speakers, integrated micro pad, 83 keys with inverted-T cursor keys. According to available details, the Neutrino will be available for about $269, which can go higher, depending on the different configuration options.
