Two days, three product releases

Only two days after it released its two DDR3 memory kits running at an effective frequency of 1600MHz, OCZ sets the pace for the gamer and computer enthusiast memory kits as it launched the 1800MHz version today. The memory modules with an effective frequency of 1800MHz are jumping right over JEDEC's standard and they are more focused of overclocking potential and more aggressive timings.

As the producing company claims, these DDR3 1800MHz memory modules were designed, tested and qualified with ample overclocking capability. The OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum Edition is considered to be a true milestone. Until now, all memory modules from OCZ came in one very high end version (usually named Platinum Edition) and one or two more budget oriented versions, with lower performances, named Gold and respective Standard Editions. Not this time, however, as OCZ released only the high end version of the 1800MHz DDR3 module. Considering that most mainboards and chipsets do not have support for it and that those memory modules are oriented (and optimized) towards Intel's P35 and the soon to be released X38 chipsets that will power the next generation of Intel compatible motherboards, that is a smart move as it will associate once again the OCZ name with the cutting edge of hardware.

At 1800MHZ, the OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum Edition memory modules are rated to run CL 8-8-8 timings. The low latencies can be achieved with a steady voltage of 1.9V, with an 0.4V increase over the JEDEC's standard 1.5V for DDR3 memory modules and thus providing the user with more than just over the top speeds. There will be both 1GB and dual channel kits of two 1GB sticks available and just like all other OCZ memory products these too come withlife time warranty including technical support and they feature the proprietary platinum-mirrored XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreader for the most effective heat dissipation.
