OCZ announced the release of a new "ultra-high performance and high reliability memory" specially designed for AMD platform's power users that comes in the form of an 8GB "Quad Kits". Designed only for the AMD AM2 platform the new kits come as a PC2-5400 DDR2 memory and are "custom-tailored to the extended column address range of the AM2 memory controller". The Titanium memory series, as the new kit is called is optimized to make the most of the AMD sophisticated memory controller, that supports an increased column address width, with the number of addresses in each row or page going as high as 2048 individual entries and a page size of 16kbit. The new OCZ Titanium memory series takes full advantage of the AM2 memory controller and allows the achievement of "unparalleled
performance".

"In workstation environments using the full extent of 64-bit computing capabilities, an abundance of physical memory space is one of the most important factors contributing to efficient data processing," commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technologyin a press release. "Complex CAD models or 3D rendering workloads drawing on massive multi-rendering capabilities of software and hardware define the new realism of technical tasks as well as of computer-generated images and digital content. In this fast-growing application environment, the lack of matched 8GB memory kits has been a huge void that is filled by the new OCZx4 kits constituting the world's first unbuffered, high performance memory kits".

As it closely follows the AM2 architecture specifications from its producer, AMD, the Titanium quad memory kits are particularly suited for extreme gamers and IT professionals those systems demand large amount of high speed and low latency memory in order to make the most of the latest dual core AMD processors. "Graphic designers, CAD engineers, and professionals in music and video editing will experience enhanced performance of their memory intense graphics applications such as CAD models, filters in Adobe Photoshop or video processing. The high-density memory offered by the Quad Kit offers is also ideal for Vista upgraders, and will maximize the performance of this graphics-intensive operating platform", according to the OCZ press release.

"The PC2-5400 AM2 Special modules are optimized for 64-bit operating systems and are available in 8GB (4x2024MB) Quad Kits and 4GB (2x2048MB) dual channel kits. Each module is 100% hand-tested for quality assurance and compatibility and feature high quality, titanium-mirrored XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders for the most effective heat dissipation. As part of OCZ's line-up of premium memory, the AM2 Special series is backed by a Lifetime Warranty and industry-leading technical support for unparalleled peace of mind".
