Apparently the phones will “run slower” after the upgrade

The Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade for Xperia X10 owners has finally arrived in the UK via O2, but it comes with a disclaimer that warns people about the dangers that come with the update.

Basically, O2 UK recommends its customers who own the old Xperia X10 to avoid updating their smartphones due to the fact that the device was meant to work only with Android 2.2 Froyo.

Although Sony Ericsson managed to release a Gingerbread update for the Xperia X10, it appears that the phone runs slower after the upgrade.

How slower? It remains to be seen. However, once the upgrade is flashed there's no turning back, unless you root the phone.

According to O2 UK, Xperia X10 owners who still want to download and install Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade even after reading the carrier's disclaimer will be able to do so “in a week” from Sony Ericsson's support site.
