Starting today, owners of Windows Phone devices on the networks of wireless carrier O2 can have their Windows Phone Store purchases charged on their monthly carrier bill.

Carrier billing support is now available for O2’s customers as part of their Charge to Mobile scheme, Telefónica announced.

Furthermore, the system provides Windows Phone users with the possibility to have purchases made on Facebook and Spotify charged to their bills next to the acquisition of applications and music from the Windows Phone Store.

“Charge to Mobile supports our digital strategy and we’re delighted to add Microsoft to our growing portfolio of technology companies who offer it,” Telefónica Digital UK director David Plumb said, the Inquirer reports.

He also noted that the service would prove to be a great alternative to credit or debit cards, and that developers will also enjoy increased revenue.
