The next-generation Curve smartphone is ready to take over the world, as the newly announced device is being launched by many carriers and retailers.

O2 UK is the second European operator that confirms that it will carry the BlackBerry Curve 9360, after Three UK made a similar announcement earlier today.

The carrier simply stated that the Curve 9360 will be released some time later this year for a price that it will be disclosed in due time.

No official announcement have been made, but O2 UK confirmed the information via Twitter:

Oooh, RIM have announced a new BlackBerry Curve! Liking the look of the 9360 - it's coming to O2 in the UK later this year.”

Previously rumored as Curve Apollo, Curve 9360 will be launched worldwide under different codenames, depending on the region and network supported.

According to Research in Motion (RIM), the smartphone will be available in Canada starting this month, while the rest of the world will get it starting with September.

Although the phone is part of the new BlackBerry 7 OS series, its hardware configuration is slightly lower in comparison with the smartphone launched at the beginning of the month.

In this regard, the Curve 9360 is equipped with an 800 MHz processor, rather than the 1.2GHz CPU embedded onto Bold 9900, Torch 9810 and 9860 models.

Furthermore, it packs 512 MB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The phone will be delivered with HSDPA and HSUPA support, as well as NFC (Near Field Communications) capabilities.

In addition, Curve 9360 sports a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities (VGA).

As the phone is meant to replace the current Curve models, we can assume the Curve 9360 will be priced a bit lower than the top-tier BlackBerry 7 smartphones announced earlier this year.
